Hi, this is a review of a 2016 “Lollapalooza” artist. The first time that I heard a “Lana Del Rey” song, it was not being performed by Lana Del Rey. It was being performed by “Tyler Hilton” and it was “Video Games” and it was a very simple, stripped down, quiet piano version that he played in a hotel and posted the video on YouTube. I fell in love immediately. I will admit that I do love that version better to this day. It may be because I generally favor male vocalists over female vocalists or it may be that that’s the way I heard it first. But I also love Lana’s version of this song. I love her style all the way around.
I like her style visually and I like her style musically. I think as a package deal, she’s just very elegant. I know a lot of people gave her a lot of hate, or give her a lot of hate for claiming to be something that, 360 she isn’t. Whether or not she did struggle to get to the top… does it really matter? I-I don’t think it does. I don’t care if she was manufactured. I think that her sound is very unique. Even down to the music videos,
I feel like her entire package is just very old school and elegant and just different from what main-stream media is constantly bombarding us with. I really love her vocals, which is unusual for me. I don’t enjoy a whole lot of female vocals. So, that’s really saying something. Just because I really love her voice doesn’t mean that you’re really going to love her voice but I think that she’s definitely an artist worth hearing and I would love to see her perform live. I really feel like she would be a great live artist to see. I have not listened to an entire album from her.
Her style of music is something that I have to listen to in bits and pieces. Otherwise, I would get depressed. You got to be careful about those triggers. That’s like Adele. I really love Adele’s voice and she has some wonderful songs but I cannot listen to an, 280 entire album of hers. I have to take her in bits and pieces.
I think that’s a big part of why I don’t listen to a whole lot of female artists because they have a whole lot of either very repetitive songs (which I cannot stand) or really super depressive-suggestive, we’ll call it. Even if the topic isn’t sad, the instrumentals and everything to accompany a female vocalist sometimes can be really kind of melancholy.
